Documentation for the VeloSpend Android app. Last updated: September 9, 2026.

Get Started

  1. Choose guest mode for local-only use, or create and verify an account if you want cloud sync.
  2. Select your currency and add your first cash, bank, card, savings, or digital-wallet account.
  3. Record income, expenses, or transfers. Add categories and notes where useful.
  4. Create category budgets and enable reminders to track spending before the month ends.

VeloSpend does not connect to your bank or automatically import bank transactions. You control the financial information entered into the app.

What You Can Do

Transactions

Record income, expenses, and transfers; filter activity by date and category; and edit or delete records when needed.

Receipt scanner

With Pro, use the camera to recognise receipt text on your device and prefill a transaction. Review the merchant, date, and amount before saving.

Accounts and budgets

Track balances across account types and set monthly category limits with optional near-limit reminders.

Bills and subscriptions

Plan one-time upcoming items and, with Pro, create repeating income or expense schedules.

Reports and forecasts

Review income, spending, savings, categories, and comparisons. Pro adds forward-looking forecasts, which are estimates based on the records you enter.

Security and appearance

Choose light or dark mode and optionally protect app access with a local PIN and supported device biometrics.

Free and Pro

The Free plan includes core manual tracking, standard reports, one account, and up to three active budgets. VeloSpend Pro adds:

  • unlimited accounts and active budgets;
  • custom categories;
  • on-device receipt scanning to prefill expense details;
  • recurring bills, subscriptions, income, and expenses;
  • forward-looking forecasts and additional insight features;
  • home-screen layout customisation; and
  • CSV export.

Pro is offered through Google Play. Available billing periods, local price, taxes, and any eligible trial are shown in Google Play before purchase. A verified VeloSpend account is required so the entitlement can be checked and restored.

Managing Pro

Use Restore purchases in the app if an active entitlement is missing. Manage or cancel renewal in Google Play. Uninstalling VeloSpend or deleting a VeloSpend account does not itself cancel a Google Play subscription. See Google Play subscription help.

Guest Mode and Cloud Sync

Guest data stays in the app's local database on that device. Signing in with a verified email account enables sync through Firebase Authentication and the VeloSpend sync service. Accounts, categories, budgets, transactions, recurring records, and selected settings can then be restored or used across devices.

The app remains usable when the network is unavailable. Eligible local changes are queued and retried after connectivity returns. Keep the app open long enough to finish its first sync before moving to another device or removing the original installation.

If sync reports an error, confirm that the account email is verified, internet access is available, and the same VeloSpend account is active. Then reopen the app and retry.

Backup, Restore, and CSV

  • Local backup: creates an explicit file you choose where to save or share. Keep it private because it can contain financial records.
  • Restore: imports app data from a compatible VeloSpend backup. Create a fresh backup first if you may need the current data later.
  • CSV export: a Pro feature that exports transaction data for use in spreadsheet software.

Android system backup is disabled for VeloSpend's local financial database. Copies you export are controlled by you and are not removed when you delete data from the app.

Notifications

VeloSpend can show budget, upcoming bill, recurring transaction, and spending reminders. On supported Android versions, you must grant notification permission. Individual reminder options can be changed in VeloSpend settings, and all notifications can be controlled in Android system settings.

Troubleshooting and Common Questions

Why does a balance look wrong?

Check the account's opening balance, transaction type, amount, date, and any transfer destination. A transfer moves value between two accounts and should not be entered as a separate income or expense.

Why is a receipt result incorrect?

Receipt recognition is an entry aid, not a guarantee. Lighting, layout, currency symbols, discounts, and multiple totals can affect detection. Always review the proposed merchant, date, and amount before saving.

Why is a forecast unavailable or still learning?

Forecasts need enough current and historical activity to estimate a pattern. They may be hidden or low-confidence when data is sparse and should never be treated as financial advice.

Why is Pro not active after purchase?

Make sure the purchase is complete rather than pending, the device is online, and you are signed into the verified VeloSpend account linked to the purchase. Then use Restore purchases.

How do I remove my data?

Open Settings, then Delete & Reset, or follow the detailed data deletion instructions.
